Burj Al Arab

Acknowledged to be the world’s most opulent hotel, the Burj Al Arab has already become an international legend. Its distinctive sail-like structure, designed to resemble the billowing spinnaker of a traditional Arabian dhow, soars above the Arabian Gulf, and draws attention for miles around. The hotel inhabits its own private man-made island, and dominates the entire Dubai coastline.

If you are a guest at the Burj Al Arab, you don’t have to wait till you arrive at the hotel to experience its unique luxury – this starts at the airport, where you are met by a hotel representative, and taken to a private lounge where you are offered drinks and sweets. You then have the choice of being transported to the hotel by vintage Rolls Royce, or by helicopter – the hotel has its own private helipad. In the Rolls, you are driven over the private bridge up to the stunning frontage, which is illuminated by choreographed lighting representing fire and water, and changing from white to multicoloured over 30-minute cycles.
