The Al Qasr, like its sister hotel the Mina A’Salam, is described as a Grand Boutique hotel, which combines the magnificence of a luxury resort with the intimacy and personal service of a family retreat. The name Al Qasr translates as The Palace, and it truly is the palace at the heart of the Madinat Jumeirah complex. Its design is inspired by the architecture of the traditional Sheikh’s summer residence, and the building is elevated to emphasise its splendour, looking down on pools, waterways and ancient wind towers.
When you arrive at the Al Qasr, you approach along a stately avenue, lined with elegantly carved statues of Arabian horses, and enter through the sculpted arches of the majestic entrance into a marble lobby festooned with palms. The sense of grandeur is reinforced by the huge windows and magnificent gardens, and the ambience of luxury can be quite breathtaking. Yet the hotel succeeds in combining the height of opulence with the age-old influence of Arabia, and an all-pervading sense of tradition.
